Patagonia developed the 4-layer fabric construction for our waders to increase breathability and abrasion resistance, move moisture away from the body, and decrease the weight.

Our exterior fabrics are densely woven 100% polyester microfibers for durability and puncture resistance. On one side we apply our H2No® waterproof coating for waterproof/breathable performance. On the other side we apply a Hydrophilic laminate that pulls moisture away from the body so it can be passed out through the exterior shell.

To protect the hydrophilic laminate we use a soft polyester tricot lining that increases abrasion resistance yet maintains a soft, supple drape. Finally, we apply a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment as the first line of defense in keeping these waders waterproof.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leak after 3 days I live outside US, but i´ve been always a fan of Patagonia products until now. I bought the Rio Azul waders and after only 3 days in the river it began leaking in a foot. I took the waders to the Patagonia store, and after a few days they told me the problem was due to misuse. I think waders are not a disposable item, and you can´t go around buying a wader each week of the season. I´m really disappointed of the warranty policy of Patagonia, but perhaps its a problem only limited to my country.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing These waders were recommended to me over various other brands for their durability. After one season the seams leak on each leg. I assumed these waders were the cheaper option due to their lack of features not performance. These are probably okay waders as backup or to throw in the pack for some backcountry angling. I definitely do not think these are meant to be a "go-to" wader. The return/ repair process isn't the easiest either as my local store turned me away when I came to them with the waders.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great fit, fabric and comfort, but seams fail I've been buying / wearing Patagonia products for 30 years and they rarely, rarely ever fail me. I use their gear regularly, but I am not someone who uses their gear on a daily basis; rather, I'm a recreational user. These waders have a great fit, fabric, design and comfort, but after just several days cumulative on the stream, the seams along the knees are separating and leaking. I store them properly and am careful not to kneel on rocks, debris, etc., so I'm not sure why they have not held up. At this point in time my options are to move up to a better pair or try the competition's waders.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from sand dounuts I don't think Patagonia's iron clad gaurantee is going to help me this time. It has a few times in the last few decades though. My wife and I love all of our patagonia gear with the exception of this last purchase. These waders are light, warm and comfortable. They would be a great deal except for one little problem. I wear them to surf fish and the cuffs fill up with sand and it can't get out. It somehow migrates in between the elastic and the outer cloth of the cuff and stays there. I'm now carrying around little 1 lb. dounuts on my ankles. I'm sure Patagonia would replace these waders if I took them in to the store but that won't help. The new ones would just fill up with sand too. I think a little redesign is in order. Until then I wouldn't buy these to use in the surf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Waders This has turned out to be a great buy. They are light weight which is great for back country fishing or a long day of fishing. They also are the easiest to get in and out of that I've ever had; they don't bind on the arch of the foot like other brands. Be careful of briars though when you are walking through brush. I highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sizing I'm 6 "2 180lbs and ordered the Large/Long. They were too long, they came up to my airpits so I had to return them for the Large Regular. Thought that would be helpful for people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase I bought these this spring and they are great. The part I like the best is how well my feet fit in the booties compared to other waders I have. They are very light weight and pack nicely in backpacks when hiking into remote areas. I got the regular size and they are a little big for me in the chest and around the legs (6'0" 190 lbs) but will serve well when fishing in the cold.
