Starting up the precipitous trail to Huayna Picchu, you leave the crowds behind and enter the tropical, high-altitude world of mist, cloud and wind. This is where our Sidesend Jacket excels. Its soft-shell design blocks wind, sheds moisture and holds your heat when the day’s plans go into night. The Sidesend has a lightweight yet sturdy feel. Made with a stretchy fabric that combines a dash of spandex with recycled polyester, it manages a wide range of weather conditions while still maintaining a comfortable level of breathability for aerobic activities. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish blocks moisture. Inside, a soft, brushed tricot backer wicks perspiration to keep you dry when you’re pushing the pace uphill. Features include a stand-up collar, two zippered handwarmer pockets, a chest pocket, two internal drop-in pockets, and a microfleece-lined neck, wind flap and cuffs for a skin-friendly feel. bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Sidesend Jacket is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from CANT WAIT TO USE I haven't tested a lot in the field, but its super comfortable, stretchy and wards off light rain, wind and whiskey. Its super breathable and the zipper is such a smooth working tool. The pocket layout is fantastic!! Definitely recommend for someone who's needing a bomber soft shell. On the side note, it is a little heavier than I expected. For size reference, I have a 48 size chest and very broad shoulders and the xl is perfect fit. I am 6'1 and 205 with a muscular build

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Oh is she wind proof! Water beads when new but not for rain wear. Keeps the wind out but not the most breathable jacket can get a little steamy. Fit is good not short but not long either, cuffs are nice and soft and mobility is about 75% of no jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice jacket to wear around town This jacket is great! I wore it St. Patricks day in Montreal for the weekend and I was able to put everything in it without issue. Material makes for sliding the jacket on easily over other fleece material and is pretty rain proof. This weekend was around 18 degrees and I was comfortable with a fleece under the jacket and could breath easily when in a crowded space. Buy it and you'll love it! I live in Vermont and this jacket is great to wear around Burlingon!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK Jacket Not as warm as I would have expected from a Patagonia product. Wind seems to chill the jacket and the cold propagates to the body. Fits and looks good while wearing it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Soft Shell This is a wonderful jacket perfect for those chilly nights or blustery days. The hem and cuffs are proportionately sized and adjust easily. I took one star off because the neck is a little high and ends just below the chin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great replacement I picked that up to replace a Patagonia softshell that had been stolen. I absolutely love it! It is not quite the same model as I used to have, but times change and so do the models. I buy things a little large so that I can layer under them, so I could have gone with a medium for a "true fit". Windproof, looks great, pockets are great though the one I am replacing had 2 chest pockets which I really preferred. I use this when I travel and on high wind high humidity cooler days here (yes we do get those occasionally)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking jacket Have had several compliments for this jacket. It didn't leave much room to layer underneath.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice material. Slightly odd fit Beautiful material, good stretch, surprisingly thin and warm. However, the fit is a bit odd. The body is cut a little bulky and the arms are cut a slender. I can't wear a dress shirt buttoned at the cuff under it because the arms are too tight and pull the wrist. I have to unbutton the wrists which is a weird adaptation. Still, love the jacket so much, I do it. Patagonia is always a bit challenged with the styling of collars.
