From moving cattle to mending fence, ranch work requires a good horse, no crying and a warm, rugged coat that is versatile enough to wear to town. The warmest of our non-down coats, the Stormdrift Parka combines a hardy, water-resistant nylon canvas shell with a zip-out insulated coat. Wear the insulation and shell layers together for cold days or separately for milder conditions. The 2-layer shell is treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, and the interior coat is filled with two layers of 100-g (92% recycled) polyester Thermogreen® insulation–doubled in the body for grim conditions, single layer in the sleeves for mobility. Shell features: adjustable snap-on hood; tall, zip-through stand-up collar that opens flat for ventilation; full-length center-front zipper with storm flap that secures with snaps; handwarmer pockets and left chest pocket with exposed water-resistant zippers for easy access; internal cinch cord at waist; princess seams front and back; and a straight fit that leaves you unencumbered in the saddle. Interior parka has on-seam handwarmer security pockets. Above-the-knee length.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Women's Stormdrift 3-In-1 Parka is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heavy, awkward fit I tried this in three sizes and none could come close to working! It was heavy and bulky and shapeless. Had to return hoping another style works better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Women's 3 in 1 Storm drift parka I bought this three weeks ago before the big snow storms hit the North East. It is extremely warm with all three layers and blocks the wind and keeps me dry. I am 5'6 ", 125 lbs and the small fits perfect even might be a little big. I bought the black so it looks a bit dressy. When it warmed up I wore the inner parka by itself which was nice in the high 30's. This spring I can wear the outer layer by itself. The sleeves are a good long length also which I need!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So glad I bought this! As usual, Patagonia has constructed a stellar winter coat that keeps me totally dry from heavy rain, warm and toasty in freezing temperatures, and one of it's best features is shelter from the wind. This is a high quality coat that will last my lifetime. I knocked off one star for two aspects which Patagonia missed with this design. One, I GREATLY miss having a two way zipper. When I sit down while wearing the coat all zipped up, I need to release the bottom zipper for overall better comfort and movement of my legs. Honestly I am considering taking it to a tailor to re-do the zipper to add this feature and can hardly believe Patagonia did not put one it. Secondly, as other reviewers have stated, the detachable inner coat when worn by itself is too tight in the bust. I am of average build and have owned many Patagonia parkas and have never run into this issue. If I went with a size large then the shoulders and overall coat would have been way too big. Though it is uncomfortable to have my chest compressed when I zip up this inner coat while wearing it solo, I will keep the coat and adjust how I use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm extra warm coat I bought this coat for a trip North, haven't used it yet as the trip is a couple of weeks away

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for everyday winter wear I love this coat! It fits great and is perfectly versatile. The base layer is sufficient for an average midwest winter day and with the addition of the shell, can withstand a blizzard with comfort and fashion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spokane Happy with the durability and functionality of this jacket. The extra length is great and in the cold weather of Gonzaga U. it fits the bill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, comfortable and warm I bought this a month ago with a move to Chicago. It is fantastic. Very warm, but light and easy to get around the city in. Looks good as well, which isn't too common with a storm coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket The jacket is so versatile! The outer shell is great in the rain and great in the wind. Coupled with the inner layer the jacket is so warm!
