Alarm rings. Mumble. Coffee. Up, out. Walk, shuffle, run; your headlamp scatters light across the trail and the day has finally begun. We made our Strider Shorts for the most devoted trail runners. These ultralightweight, breathable, fast-drying running shorts use a 50-denier 100% polyester fabric with DWR (durable water repellent) finish that resists sweat, while 100% polyester (50% recycled) airflow mesh panels ensure you stay cool. The built-in liner wicks moisture, dries quickly and is treated with Polygiene® permanent odor control. The covered elastic waistband has a sturdy internal drawcord that secures the fit, and the back right hip internal drop-in pocket (with key loop) keeps the front clean for a smooth stride. Reflective logo at left hem; 7" inseam with a 2" split.

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Odor Resistant

Polygiene® odor control permanently protects your garments from smelling like a middle school locker room. Sweat itself is odorless, but it creates the conditions that bacteria need to multiply, and some of those bacteria produce odors. Polygiene permanent odor control stops the growth of odor-causing bacteria on fabrics, so you can wear more and wash less.

Active only on the fabric surface, Polygiene permanent odor control does not interfere with perspiration or with the skin’s natural bacterial flora. Polygiene particles are more than 100 times larger than nanoparticles and therefore are too large to penetrate to the skin’s barrier. Polygiene-treated fabrics have received Medical Class 1 approval in Europe, the same class that includes bandages.

Men's Strider Shorts - 7 In. is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile trail shorts Purchased last month and have worn these about 6 times. They are very lightweight, breathable, with ample support in the inner liner. Blows away the competition in the trail running category. Have mostly worn in warm weather, so not sure about winter use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent pair of running shorts Use these regularly for runs around central park and at the gym. Prefer the 5inch versions but these are a good all rounder. Only used for 10km runs and felt comfortable not sure I would use them on a half marathon or more distance wise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great update but drawcord too short I would normally give these shorts a 5 star but for some reason this versions draw cord is very short. You are not able to tie a simple bowknot which causes them to come loose. The rest of the short is very comfortable and the sizing is spot on for my medium build (6'1 1/2, 172 lbs.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from G.O.A.T. but bring back the 5" These are without a doubt the Greatest running shorts Of All Time. The fit is perfect if you are already a runner and there is nothing extraneous. I have half a dozen of the Strider, and another half dozen of the Strider Pro, and while the Pro's are great, I don't pick them unless I need to carry something. The contrasting colours are cool, providing the option to go retro 70's running, or just keep a low profile. One request, please bring back the 5" option, these shorts are so light and breathe so well, it doesn't make sense to drop the 5", the last thing I want on a hot day is an extra 2" of fabric. And while I am at it the sleeveless Airflow is sorely missed, the last few I have are really starting to smell after 3 years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Go-To in Warmer Climates As an avid marathoner and trail runner, I run in a variety of environments and have experimented with several brands of running shorts and apparel throughout the years. I find these shorts to be the best, serving as my go-to in warmer climates. I am 6'0", 175 lbs. with a mesomorphic build. The size mediums sit below the waist and hit 2-3 inches above the knee. The short wears close to the hip and leg, and the leg opening allows enough room for a comfortable stride without being baggy. They are lightweight and quick-drying. The liner fits snug and helps prevent chafing. There is one drop-in pocket on the back, right hip that allows for car keys and/or a GU gel. In addition to running, I use these for rock climbing and casual wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and not a sign of sweating I use these for exercise clothes at the gym, but I could definitely take them hiking if I ever went. Super comfortable AND they don't show sweat lines. I sweat just sitting down, so these have already been through the ringer on that front. I recommend these if you're comfortable with your thighs. I thought I was on the shorter side at 5'7" but 7" is not that long. I'm glad I went for these and not the 5" version. Pocket comes in handy when you need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They fixed 'em! These are the perfect light weight all around sports short. I always loved the concept of these shorts and have two older pair to prove it. But they rarely get used because the liner fit is awkward. This season they fixed that, and slightly tweaked the inner mini pocket making these shorts go from should-a-beens to all-stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gonna buy more... Great for traveling. They dry fast, don't stink, and I love that the inside pocket was moved to the right rear hip. Probably going to get a couple more.
