Learn More Close
With an eye toward those who redline in the alpine, we took another step forward with our Nano-Air® Light Hoody. This light, stretchy, extended-range midlayer quickly became a tester and ambassador favorite due to its dynamic insulation and sweet-spot breathability. The fabric package sheds snow and maintains the same impressive stretch as our regular Nano-Air (100% stretch nylon shell and liner), but it’s three-quarters more breathable and a third less insulative (using 40-g FullRange® 100% polyester stretch insulation)—meaning, you’ll never need to take it off. The stripped-down, deep-venting pullover silhouette remains trim through the midsection, while the engineered pattern eliminates seams across the shoulders and back, thus removing abrasion points and enhancing comfort. The hood works alone, under a helmet or stretches over lower-profile lids, and the poly/spandex stretch-woven cuffs are shaped, patterned and seamed to reduce bulk when layered and easily push-up without constricting the forearms. With an exterior left-chest zippered pocket. Slim fit.
  • Light yet durable 100% nylon ripstop shell and plain-weave liner, both with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, offer generous mechanical stretch and exceptional breathability
  • Revolutionary 40-g FullRange® insulation warms and stretches; combined with the shell and liner, this creates excellent mechanical stretch and unprecedented air permeability (70CFM)
  • Engineered pattern avoids all seaming across the shoulders and back, eliminating abrasion points and enhancing stretch
  • Stretchy hood with elastic binding is warm and simple
  • Pullover silhouette has deep center-front zipper to allow for quick venting and easy on-off
  • Exterior left-chest zip pocket
  • Stretch-woven cuffs are shaped, patterned and seamed for low-bulk layering, and push up easily without constricting forearms
  • Shell: 1.6-oz 30-denier 100% nylon stretch ripstop. Lining: 2-oz 50-denier 100% nylon stretch plain weave. Cuff: 4.7-oz 88% polyester/ 12% spandex stretch-woven. All fabrics with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 40-g FullRange® 100% polyester stretch insulation
  • 261 g (9.2 oz)
  • Made in Vietnam.

Water Resistant

DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Women's Nano-Air Light Hoody is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very warm for mid layer I got this to function as my mid layer when I am working hard and sweating a lot at high altitude (10k plus feet). This worked more as a jacket than a mid layer for me but it really depends on the conditions.... I was climbing Mt Shasta and it worked perfectly as my outer layer (it was not windy with 20 degree temps in dark) with my wool baselayer. It was almost too warm, but as soon as I stopped it was so nice to have that thing on and it was very breathable which made it much nicer (a light houdini over it in windy conditions would have been perfect for wind block). My only complaint is that if you are in those in between conditions where it is not quite cold enough to easily keep this on as a real mid layer (rather then outer layer) it is really a pain to get it on and off over your helmet and is not stretchy to pull over climbing helmet. The zipper and the top was easy but it was the really tight/non stretchy waist band that made it really hard to pull on and off. I would absolutely love this jacket if it were a full zip for ease of use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bummed on fit Super bummed about the fit. In the past few years Patagonia has been making their women's fit a bit longer and I had hoped this was the case for the jacket. I am 5'11" and was really excited about this jacket for outdoor adventures (cycling, hiking, camping) but the shoulders are too broad and the hem is too short, considerably above my waist line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavier R1 replacement I got this to wear when the R1 (which I love) is not quite warm enough. I haven't had a chance to take it out alpine climbing, but wanted to weigh in with a review on the fit for anyone considering buying this hoody. I went back and forth between buying an xs or an xxs -- I have the original nanopuff and swim in the xs. This hoody, however has a slim fit (vs the regular fit of the original nanopuff) so I decided to stick with the xs, which I'm glad I did. I'm 5'3", 112lb, with an athletic/climber's build. I found the xs to be a bit tight around the shoulders, and loose around my waist; it's stretchy enough that it's not a huge issue once it's on, but it's a struggle pulling this over my shoulders. Once it's on, if it weren't for the stretchy fabric, I wouldn't be able to move my arms. However, a small would have meant even more extra material around the waist, which would not sit well under a harness. For a piece that is marketed towards climbers, I wish they would keep us in mind when designing their clothes. For us girls with lats, I'm always finding tops to be tight in the shoulders and drafty and loose around the waist. I'm a pretty petite person, but have a 36A chest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive warmth & breathability! I have the full zip version of this and love it for running errands and casual wear around town, walking the dog, etc. Decided to try this lighter hoody for higher aerobic activities and mid insulation under a shell for cooler temps. Didn't disappoint. Same wonderful stretchy warmth in a lighter & sleeker package. Less stitching overall, no brick pattern on sides or chevrons on the main body panels. Long front zip for ease of on/off and ventilation. One large chest pocket. Large yet well fitting hood. Soft side binding on hood hem & comfy zipper garage. Nice spandexy type flat lying wrist cuffs to seal in warmth and fit well under gloves. This is a VERY simplified version of the full zip, heavier hoody. No hand pockets at all. No slash, no zip, no meshy little sewn drop in your glasses or phone internal pocket. And there also is no bottom drawcord to cinch out breezes at the waist. It does what it is supposed to do, with zero extra frills or adjustments. I think it's pretty rad for what it is and what I'll use it for mainly. Colors are gorgeous in person, I wish they had made the ladies full zip in this eggplant purple color. And the bright orange contrasting zips really make this jacket look awesome! Fit seems a bit shorter in the body vs my full zip version. I feel like maybe it fits a bit slimmer too, but that might just be a pullover style type thing. It feels like you're more "stuck" in it, so it might be a mental deal for me. Anyways, get this and enjoy! I think it's amazing!
