Our mackerel is jack mackerel, responsibly harvested off the coast of Chile. Our partners in Chile have small artisanal vessels and use purse-seines to minimize bycatch as much as possible. Jack mackerel are small, schooling fish low on the ocean food chain. By eating mackerel instead of larger fish like tuna or swordfish, we can lessen our impact on marine ecosystems. They're an excellent source of protein, vitamin B-12, and other vital nutrients (see nutrition information for total fat, saturated far and sodium content). Better yet, they don't have the higher levels of toxins often found in larger apex-predator fish like tuna and swordfish.
