You’ve sacrificed sleep, work and a relationship or two for cold, dry powder. You may sometimes feel a twinge of regret, but you’ll rarely feel the cold in our Primo Down—the warmest and most protective insulated hard-shell jacket we make (and updated this season with a newly refined fit). It combines a durable, 2-layer waterproof/breathable and windproof GORE-TEX® fabric with an insulating layer of Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) to keep your psych high as the temperature drops low. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish casts off water and saturated snow, and an internal nylon lining manages moisture and glides smoothly over underlayers. The 2-way-adjustable, helmet-compatible hood has a laminated visor for optimal visibility. The Cohaesive® cord-lock system embeds cord locks in hood and hem for quick and easy adjustment while Slim Zip installation with watertight, coated zippers on the pockets and pit zips reduce bulk and weight. Vislon® zippers on the center-front and chest pockets are burly tough and easy to use. Other features include ventilating pit zips; a removable, fully adjustable, low-profile powder skirt; a goose down–filled draft collar for additional warmth and protection; and an embedded RECCO® avalanche rescue reflector. There are six zippered pockets: two handwarmers, one chest (includes a secure media pocket with cable routing), one on the forearm, and one interior stash, plus one interior drop-in for gloves or goggles.
  • Tough and lightweight 2-layer polyester ripstop GORE-TEX® fabric for durably waterproof/breathable and windproof protection. Insulation: 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) is warm and highly compressible
  • Helmet-compatible, 2-way-adjustable fixed hood with laminated visor for optimal visibility in bad conditions; Cohaesive® embedded cord-lock system in hood and hem for quick and easy adjustment; goose down-filled draft collar at back of neck for extra warmth
  • Watertight, coated zippers with slim zip installation on the pockets and pit zips reduce bulk and weight; Vislon® watertight, center-front zip is durable and easy to use
  • Pit zips quickly release heat; adjustable, low-profile cuffs secure over or under gloves

The construction of 2-Layer GORE-TEX® Products is unique. A GORE-TEX® membrane is bonded to an outer material, then combined with a free-flowing lining. The benefit: a soft, lightweight garment that keeps you dry and lets you move freely.

The GORE-TEX® membrane has 9 billion pores per square inch, with each pore 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet. These tiny holes are too small for water and wind to pass through from the outside. But these same pores are large enough for moisture vapor to pass through, so your body's perspiration is able to escape and you won’t feel clammy or uncomfortable inside your jacket.

Traceable Down Insulation

All Patagonia virgin down is certified to the Advanced Global Traceable Down standard by NSF International. The Advanced certification level means our down suppliers conducted audits all the way back to the parent farms to ensure there was no live-plucking and that broader humane animal welfare standards were faithfully observed throughout the supply chain. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Amazing Jacket, so warm and has enough room to layer perfectly, but the Zipper! why is the zipper so hard to move. Hopefully it becomes easier as i break in the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every dime of the price! Put this jacket to the test today on Bald Mountain with 50 kt. gust blowing me backwards. Yes, it is windproof. Yes, it is the warmest jacket you will ever wear. Size fit may run slightly large, but with layering I think that it is a really good fit. Way to go guys!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket, but... This is a great jacket, but I had one problem with it - sizing. I am 5'-11", 176 pounds, with a 42" chest. I always purchase a size large in all tops from Patagonia and they fit perfectly. I purchased this jacket in a large and it fits in the arm length and shoulders, but I am swimming in the body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Winter Jacket Ever!!! Buying this jacket was the best gear decision I have ever made! I returned an Insulated Powder Bowl Jacket because it was not warm enough. The Primo Down is plenty warm enough, VERY light, easy to move in, and fits perfect! I wear it as an everyday winter coat and for skiing. It keeps me warm and dry when skiing and looks great for work. I am extremely happy with this jacket. Only complaint is the rigidness of the zippers but maybe they will move easier with time. This jacket is well worth the money and is very versatile. I am 5' 9'' 140 and the Small fits perfect with room to layer underneath if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from mens primo down jacket The primo down jacket , has been keeping me nice n warm on mammoth mountain when im out on my snowboard. getting out in the mornings with a temp of 10f and a windchill of pointing my board as fast as I want to go, making for some cold laps. The Primo Down jacket is perfect with a medium baselayer under it and the hood works with my beanie, or the collar work with my helmet strap. If you wear a helmet having the collar go over the strap and have wiggle room is a must. I will be in this jacket all season, hoping that its going to be deep, cold and fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excited for winter I just got the Primo Down as an East Coast ski jacket. I have a Primo Shell and typically ski with the Nano Air Hoodie underneath. While that combination was warm. there were days when I would get cold sitting on the chairlift. I'm very excited to wear a long underwear top and the Primo Down Jacket. It fits well and seems very warm. For reference, I am 5'10 and 180 lbs and got the medium.
