Searching for early–season stripers on the Cape requires industrial-strength protection from the elements. Our River Salt Jacket stands up to salt spray, hard use and serious nor’easters. Made with our extra-tough H2No® Performance Standard 4-layer, 5.4-oz wader fabric with a waterproof/breathable barrier and a NanoSphere® DWR (durable water repellent) finish, this is the burliest waterproof/breathable fishing jacket on the market. The waterproof, corrosion-resistant YKK® Vislon® Aquaguard front zipper and watertight adjustable cuffs seal out wind-driven precip. Three large, streamlined front pockets hold fly boxes, close with coated, water-repellent zips and won’t snag flying line on the shoot. When you have to crank up and run into the teeth of it, the innovative, vented hood stays in place at speed. The River Salt is our medium-length fishing jacket, with a hem 2 ½ inches longer than our shortest fishing jacket, the SST.
  • 100% polyester microfiber shell with a waterproof/breathable H2No® barrier and NanoSphere® DWR (durable water repellent) finish; same fabric we use for our toughest waders
  • Three TPU-coated, water-repellent front-zippered pockets sized to hold fly boxes; waterproof and corrosion-resistant YKK® Vislon® Aquaguard front zipper
  • Innovative, fully vented, adjustable hood designed to stay in place, even at high boat speed
  • Watertight adjustable cuffs
  • Mesh draining elastic drawcord at hem
  • H2No® Performance Standard shell: 4-layer, 5.4-oz 100% plain weave, with a waterproof/breathable barrier and NanoSphere® DWR (durable water repellent) finish

  • Made in Vietnam.

Weatherproof

Patagonia developed the 4-layer fabric construction for our waders to increase breathability and abrasion resistance, move moisture away from the body, and decrease the weight.

Our exterior fabrics are densely woven 100% polyester microfibers for durability and puncture resistance. On one side we apply our H2No® waterproof coating for waterproof/breathable performance. On the other side we apply a Hydrophilic laminate that pulls moisture away from the body so it can be passed out through the exterior shell.

To protect the hydrophilic laminate we use a soft polyester tricot lining that increases abrasion resistance yet maintains a soft, supple drape. Finally, we apply a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment as the first line of defense in keeping these waders waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most waterproof thing Ive ever owned Stupidly dry. Great color with hint of gold, great pocket configuration, great hood shape for keeping out rain. Breathes remarkably well. Likely Patagonia's least comfortable but most water proof piece, except maybe the ST. Buy hey, if its cold enough to bother with a rain jacket youll have other comfortable layers underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High speed...low drag This jacket is high speed...Low drag! Everything you need and nothing you don't for staying dry on the water. The jacket fits well without a bunch of extra material flapping around. Pockets are all minimal but thought out and useful, a nice change from some of my other Go Go Gadget wading jackets. The hood fits well and rolls down to where ya barley know it's there. Mine gets worn on the water and off. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket I've ever owned I can sum this review up easily - this is the best jacket I have ever owned. I originally purchased it for a two week camping trip in southeast Alaska, but it became my go to jacket for all my outdoor activities. As professional fishing guide in North Carolina's southern outerbanks, I go everywhere with this jacket. From rain to spray, even in the summer, it keeps me dry and comfortable and has held up perfectly...and has as I abuse it, it really shouldn't! Three seasons of saltwater and multiple trips across the country I can't be without it. Only thing is I miss the gray color...but it doesn't matter it's still got years to go before I need a new one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy Another stellar product from Patagonia. Great fit. Glides over bulky insulation layers easily. Hood and cuffs are great at keeping water out and comfy. Have been through several storms and not gotten wet. Have not been in an "all day soaker" yet but have confidence the jacket will hold up. Only had it for 1 season of use here in MI but its holding up well and don't expect it to wear out any sooner than typical Patagonia outerwear. I use it for everything: bird hunting, camping, etc. Seems to breath well as many of my fishing haunts require substantial hike in/out. Was debating between a Simms high dollar jacket and very glad I chose this one. Best feature over the Simms is the styling...this one doesn't look like a dorky fishing jacket. Well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great This jacket is the best of many I tried on before purchasing and performance has been amazing. Doesn't feel as boxy as other big brand wading jackets and the fabric slides on easily over any layer. The pockets are great and, while I didn't want to compromise on handwarmer pockets that don't zip, these are designed in a way that they don't get thumbs or oars caught while rowing- so far anyway. The only issue I have is that the gasket on the wrist somehow got a rip in it. Can't think of what might have caused it, but I know it will be easy to have it repaired if needed. Bottom line: This is an awesome wading jacket. Not made in China if I recall. Vietnam or something, but the main point is that Patagonia strives to be responsible in how they source materials, which is important to me. Just wish they would try to source more from the good ol' USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it is a got to have The River Salt Jacket is a jacket that fits right. I fly fish and it moves with me allowing for full movement. Great pockets and if you don’t need the hood it will roll up in to the collar. The inside glove pocket is a real plus and has a zip pocket on the other side. the front pockets also have zippers. I say thumbs up.
