You could always heat up a can of chili to stymie the cold, but it’s a whole lot easier to slide into the warmth of this hybrid jacket. It combines modern construction techniques with age-old insulation to create a warm, performance-oriented jacket that’s waterproof, breathable and insulated. We made the shell of the Ukiah Down Hybrid Jacket from a supple 2-layer 100% polyester fabric coated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to fend off moisture and increase durability. Warm, 600-fill-power Recycled Down, reclaimed from duck and goose down products, insulates the jacket’s core, while soft mesh-face fleece throughout the shoulders and arms reduces bulk and allows your arms to move freely. The classic shirt-collar design converts to a stand-up collar with a snap closure to protect your neck and seal in warmth. It has handwarmer pockets that close with zippers and a zippered rear stow pocket that’s ideal for bike commuters. Hip length with a drop-tail hem.

100% Recycled Down

There’s a huge upside when you can turn waste into something beautiful; we’re doing that with Recycled Down. It’s a mix of 600-fill-power goose and duck down reclaimed from cushions, bedding and other used items that can’t be resold. The reclaimed down is washed, using detergent and thermal water at 34 degrees Celsius, then dried at 135 degrees Celsius (20 minutes longer than the industry standard), making it hypoallergenic. Recycled Down offers the identical performance benefits to virgin down.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Men's Ukiah Down Hybrid Jacket is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mid-layer piece This is the best hybrid jacket that I have seen. The weight, fit, function, versatility as a mid-layer piece is phenomenal. The arms are fleece which will allow wind to pass through. However since the outside is smooth, they slide in and out outer layer jacket easily. The warm fleece on the inside of the sleeves will keep you comfy. I love the double zips. When I sit in the car, the bottom can zip up to accommodate my belly. The rear pocket is the best invention ever. My phone, wallet, keys all fit in there when I ride the bike or when I'm on a quick trip to the grocery store. I found myself wearing it more often than my down or synthetic jacket because how well it breathed being a hybrid and all. I usually wear this along with my Barbour or shell jackets. I'm 5'8 157 lbs and got a small.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Perfect motorcycle layer, around town not so much This is somewhat of a confusing piece yet serves my needs perfectly. I am constantly looking for a warm layer under an armored motorcycle jacket. I think this jacket will fit the bill. The body is very warm and the sleeves are very tight, a perfect combination under armor plus the funky collar allows me to keep the wind out while keeping the armored piece open at the neck. Around town is a different story. This jacket has a very narrow temperature range. Your torso will be warm but the arms are so breathable that even a slight breeze cuts right through. It's an odd sensation, like you were wearing a down vest over a shirt. Yet, it is too warm for anything above 40-50. The style is great but the use is suspect.
