Just when the sun starts to warm the afternoon, a blizzard blasts the belay. Through the vagaries of shoulder seasons, our Ultralight Down Hoody holds your heat with 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) and an ultralight yet supertough shell fabric blocks wind and sheds snow with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The sewn-through construction, tight channel pattern and just the right amount of down increase versatility for use in more moderate temperatures and diverse activities. The slim silhouette (and low-profile hood with single-pull adjustment) maximizes thermal efficiency and suits its ideal uses: belay parka over light layers at crisp crags, minimalist summer alpine bivies and unmatched warmth layered under a shell. Pockets include two zippered handwarmers and one zippered chest. The hoody self-stuffs into the left handwarmer to become a travel pillow, and into the chest pocket for storage, with carabiner clip-in loop. A drawcord hem helps keep in the heat.
  • Ultralightweight Pertex Quantum® shell and liner fabrics use interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance the performance of the DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked)
  • Variegated channel construction stabilizes goose down; side panels with narrow channels provide shape and reduce bulk
  • Longer-length hem; center-front zipper has interior storm flap and wicking kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood seals in warmth
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets and one zippered chest pocket have zipper garages; jacket self-stuffs into chest pocket with carabiner clip-in loop, as well as left-hand pocket as a travel pillow
  • Elastic-bound cuffs and hem with single drawcord adjustment seal in warmth
  • Shell and lining: 0.85-oz 15-denier 100% nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® built with Y-shaped filament technology; with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked). Fabric is certified as bluesign® approved

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? Women's Ultralight Down Hoody is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the ultralight down hoody I bought this two months ago and it's been perfect for our unusually cold winter. Much warmer than the nano puff. Love the fit and style. I'm tall and athletic build, about 155 lbs. My only critique is that I wish the arms were a little longer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Extremely lightweight I haven't tried this out in our cold Colorado temperatures...wonder if it will be warm enough???

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ultra light not wind proofed, better to wear underneath a windbreaker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like a lot, not quite love I bought this hoody a few months ago and I'm still satisfied with my purchase. That being said, I have to completely tuck the bottom part of my jacket up for it to look ok (I don't really mind because it's so thin, but a bit annoying still). I ordered the XS and it is way too long for an XS in my opinion. I also agree with the other reviewer who said the sleeves fit weird. From the elbow down it has a great fit, from the elbow to shoulder there is quite a bit of room. I still love the jacket though, it keeps me warm and I always get compliments on it. Love the French Red!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, insulated, wind breaker I bought this jacket four years ago. I thought that it would be nice for the shoulder seasons, but I use it most of the year. It's the perfect lightweight packable jacket for cool summer night camping trips. It’s my everyday casual spring and fall jacket and a surprisingly warm, mid-layer for under my fowl weather gear (sailing) and ski patrol shell. I love that it's a light, insulated, wind breaker that looks great alone and easily fits under heavier shells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My Ultralight Down Hoody! Warm and lightweight. Super thin and Fits great. Used it on windy, cold days and was surprised by how warm it was. I absolutely love this jacket and do not see myself needing to buy another in years!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warmth Level and Fit are Off I really wanted to like this hoody. I LOVE that there is finally a hoody with a shorter collar that doesn't come up to the middle of my nose when zipped - the main reason I bought it. But I have to agree with other reviewers that it is not at all warm. Unless it is in the mid-50's with no wind - I'm freezing! And the fit is off. The sleeves and armholes are too wide and bulky and make me look like a michelin man. However, the torso fits great and so I couldn't go to a smaller size. So while the concept is great, in this case Patagonia really missed the mark in terms of both warmth level and the weird fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this hoody, and the same style jacket, and also vest. I like them all for what I use them. This hoody and the jacket I like to take with me while travelling. They are perfect pieces if you change climate. If I fly from Wisconsin to some place warmer - like Florida or Cali - in a winter or late autumn, I put one of those going to the airport. It's soft, so you can use it as a pillow on the airplane. It also packs so easily - I just stack it into the pocket of my travel bag, when it is getting too warm for it, and that's it. When I was in Disneyland last January, I was wearing this hoody on cold days - on top of "normal" hoody - in the night, when it's cold, - and take it off and tuck it into my backpack, when it get warmer during the day - perfect! The fit is just right for me. I wear size S, and this one fits gracefully over a fleece, but looks good - not loose - without a warm layer underneath. Also all of these pieces are great for layering - for ski, to walk the dog etc. I also wear them to school on top of my scrubs all the time, as it always cold there. Use them every day.
