Just when the sun starts to warm the afternoon, a blizzard blasts the belay. Through the vagaries of shoulder seasons, our Ultralight Down Hoody holds your heat with 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) and an ultralight yet supertough shell fabric blocks wind and sheds snow with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The sewn-through construction, tight channel pattern and just the right amount of down increase versatility for use in more moderate temperatures and diverse activities. The slim silhouette (and low-profile hood with single-pull adjustment) maximizes thermal efficiency and suits its ideal uses: belay parka over light layers at crisp crags, minimalist summer alpine bivies and unmatched warmth layered under a shell. Pockets include two zippered handwarmers and one zippered chest. The hoody self-stuffs into the left handwarmer to become a travel pillow, and into the chest pocket for storage, with carabiner clip-in loop. A drawcord hem helps keep in the heat.
  • Ultralightweight Pertex Quantum® shell and liner fabrics use interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance the performance of the DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked)
  • Variegated channel construction stabilizes goose down; side panels with narrow channels provide shape and reduce bulk
  • Longer-length hem; center-front zipper has interior storm flap and wicking kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Low-profile, single-pull adjustable hood seals in warmth
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets and one zippered chest pocket have zipper garages; jacket self-stuffs into chest pocket with carabiner clip-in loop, as well as left-hand pocket as a travel pillow
  • Elastic-bound cuffs and hem with single drawcord adjustment seal in warmth
  • Shell and lining: 0.85-oz 15-denier 100% nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® built with Y-shaped filament technology; with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked). Fabric is certified as bluesign® approved

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Women's Ultralight Down Hoody is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect jacket! I love the fact that the jacket is lightweight and warm. The hood is very helpful when it is windy or raining. I also love the longer length.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Strange fit Well made jacket but did not fit well. I am a classic small and while claiming to be a slim fit was too big in the back and sides. Patagonia still struggles with women's fit. Very inconsistent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous but not warm enough I feel very stylish when wear this coat out, small is perfect size for 5'7", 145. It is not as warm as I had hoped, however. I do run cold, but without a good fleece underneath (and maybe a windbreaker on top), I'd say it's a 40 degree coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best "most-weather" jacket I bought this to help outlast an Alaskan winter, and it'd been my best friend ever since. Great warmth at -11F and breathes well at 45F. Couldn't have asked for a better jacket to transition from winter to spring outside. Wish it could magically become rainproof, but alas, you can only ask for so much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight but fabric not super tough I love how light and unrestrictive the jacket is-it really doesn't feel like you even have it on. For cold weather (windchill below zero F) I used this as a layer with another down jacket. My biggest disappointment was the first day I wore it out I poked a hole through the fabric on the front and some feathers have started to come out (I'll patch it). I wasn't even doing anything extreme so I don't know how I managed to do damage (pushing through spruce forests, laying in a field with some spiky plants..). Also, if I have a few thicker layers on under it the arms and across the back are a little tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly warm I bought this jacket to replace a much heftier down jacket, and to minimize the weight in my backpack. I have tested this jacket on days below freezing and been surprised at how warm it is. I also like that it is long in the body which will add warmth on really cold days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Warm so Kool! I love the look and feel of this jacket. First for its warmth second for its super stylish look. It's super thin, easy to pack, and fits true to size! I got my usual medium. I'm 5'8" and 150 pounds athletic build.
