“I was really surprised at the flexibility with my hours. It feels really good to go to my kids’ recitals at school during the day or to check out a new trail in Tahoe while the weather is perfect. I still complete my job duties, but don’t have to sacrifice important experiences to do so.”

Passionate about: Environmental and social activism.

Outside interests: Hiking with my twin girls, volunteering for various causes and reading as many books as I can.

Path to Patagonia: A friend told me about a company that was hiring where everyone was a “tree hugger like me,” so I looked into Patagonia. The Common Threads program really appealed to me, and luck had it that the repairs department had a position open. I have been here ever since.

Favorite Patagonia product: The Atom Sling. I love that I can use it for my everyday needs and for bike riding and hiking as well. I never go anywhere without it.

Greatest surprise upon landing here:

Has Patagonia changed you in any way?
Being involved in the Worn Wear movement has made me evaluate my consumption. The Footprint Chronicles® inspires me to make more responsible purchases.

Done an enviro internship? Served on the environmental grants council? How’d it go?
I recently completed an enviro internship with a local organization. It was an amazing experience because I learned a lot from the passionate people I worked with. I loved that I could work the schedule to be at my internship and still be in repairs a few days a week. I also was accepted to the environmental grants council this year and am thrilled to be more involved with local grassroots organizations.
