Parenting: Disaster Style
Patagonia’s new short film series, Parenting: Disaster Style, chronicles climbers Zoe Hart and her husband, Maxime Turgeon, as they share wild nature and sport with their sons, Mathias and Mika—from backcountry hut skiing in Italy to lessons in dirtbagging along the French coast and growing food at their home in Chamonix, France. “If you push your kids past what they think is possible,” explains Zoe, “whether it’s being cold or tired or wet, they’ll learn they have the capacity to do way more than they thought they could.”
Parenting: Disaster Style – Episode 1
Episode 1 finds the family in Southern France for a skate, climbing and kitesurfing trip, and includes a lesson on stretching 40 euros.
Parenting: Disaster Style – Episode 2
The second installment is all about type–two fun and nature’s rewards. The Hart/Turgeon family goes ski touring through a storm to spend some time at a backcountry hut in Val Ferret, Italy. Young Mika would later describe this trip as the “best adventure in the world.”
Parenting: Disaster Style – Episode 3
In episode 3, Zoe and Maxime bring Mathias and Mika rock climbing in the French Alps and remind them that it’s not just about taking a big high from the mountains, but also giving back and creating the environment we want to have.
