Toboggan wipeouts happen in every condition - be it soup, powder, graupel and ice. We’ve made the Baby Puff Mitts to keep baby’s hands warm in all manner of snow play. The mittens are made from wind- and water-resistant 100% recycled polyester shell fabric is treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to shed moisture. bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Recycled Polyester

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health.

Today, we’re able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts, and fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste, and worn out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes.

Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a raw material source, curbs discards and reduces toxic emissions from incinerators.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ridiculously cute I'm sure this item has small production numbers but here is some feedback anyway. Cuff design could use a little refinement to make it easier to put on floppy kid hands. Also the product origin and care tags are HUGE! Perhaps they are the same size as an adult garment but in the context of this tiny product they overwhelm the initial impression. Keep making the cool stuff!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from sizing off- quality spot on Well, I was really hoping these would be our winter mitten this year- but I am still searching. I bought these for my 5 year old son. He is, and always has been on the smaller side for his age, so I ordered these in a 5T thinking we would get at least two years out of these, like we do every other Patagonia item we have owned and currently own for him and his older brothers. Well, the 5T in these mittens just barely fit. The mitt part seems to be just as wide as long. IMO, they need to be longer and not as wide. Would really love to see the part that goes up on the wrist a little longer as well, so his wrist would not be exposed when playing outside. We have a pair of the Pita mittens from 5 years ago that are a wonderful length and width (they are a Large and went thru two boys for at least two years each, and still going strong!) Anyway, would have really loved to have a pair of mittens for playing outside in the snow that are warm and waterproof. The search goes on! I think that if you have a smaller child, these would work great, if you are able to find the correct size. They seem to be the fantastic quality that Patagonia always turns out.
