bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Weatherproof

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are completely waterproof, windproof, breathable and highly packable for backpacking, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing. They combine a water-repellent shell fabric with a waterproof/breathable membrane and a protective top coat barrier without needing a protective lining fabric. A raised print layer is applied to decreased layering friction and increase moisture management.

2.5-layer H2No® Performance Standard shell fabrics are coated with DWR (durable water repellent) fabric finish that repels light rain and snow. In conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

All products bearing the H2No mark have been vigorously tested for durability in our 24 Killer Wash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish & Perfect fit for city summers I bought this coat after enjoyin a Patagonia 3-in-1 coat all winter. The fit is so classic and is a nice tailored look for urban wear. Very Lightweight with plenty of low profile pockets to keep you dry in warm weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Waterproof! I purchased this Torrentshell City Coat for three reasons. (1.) Yesterday I wore it to walk the dog in the rain, and it kept me dry. I do not use an umbrella when walking the dog so it is very important that my coat is waterproof. (2.) I wanted the coat to be lightweight so it could be packed for travel, and it is. (3.) In addition I wanted to be able to layer under it, and because it is regular fit my Patagonia short down jacket fits comfortably under it. For this reason I always purchases a size up in Patagonia outdoor coats, and I bought this in a medium even though I normally wear a small. I recommend it this rain coat for travel and layering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Raincoat!! I am absolutely in love with this raincoat! I have been looking for a longer raincoat for what seems like forever. I couldn't find one that matched my style but was also functional. Luckily, I finally found both with this coat! It's perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and great style I have the Wild Paradise color. The fit is perfect and I love the splash of color. Every time I wear it I get several compliments and questions as to where I purchased it. It is very light weight and packable but still provides protection and a bit of warmth from a slight chill in the air.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I like the slightly slim fit- it's a more flattering raincoat. I only wore in that rain once so far. I'd like the pockets to be a bit deeper/longer, since a whole hand doesn't fit in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Like walking around in a plastic bag Extremely thin "plastic" and any movement is extremely noisy. Returned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect raincoat I received the shorter, more basic version of this coat as a Christmas gift and immediately decided to trade up to this version. The longer length and more fitted cut is feminine and classy enough to wear anywhere. I am 5ft and 115 lbs, and the XS fits me perfectly with enough room to layer up underneath if I need to. I'm an hourglass shape and it's so difficult for me to find coats that don't look huge or boxy on me without a belt (and I always lose the belts!), but this looks so flattering on. I love the warm fleece pockets and the separate pockets with flaps, although I don't think I'll really use the chest pocket. The hood is also excellent, and keeps the rain off of my face much better than any other hood I've used. I've only worn this jacket a few times so far, so can't speak for its longevity, but it seems completely waterproof, even in a downpour. The only drawbacks I can think of are that I don't really like the grey interior and wish it was black, and that even a very thin mesh liner would do wonders for comfort. The material is also quite loud when you move around in it, although that's pretty typical of raincoats. To be honest though, I don't think I'd pay this much for a raincoat if it wasn't a gift, but hopefully Patagonia will live up to its name. It's the first product of theirs I've owned. Overall, I'm very pleased with this coat.
