So light. So warm. The Ultralight Down Vest combines 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) with a superlight 15-denier 100% nylon Pertex Quantum® shell for a lightweight, toasty warm down vest.

When a breeze blows one minute and snowflakes fly the next, our Ultralight Down Vest will block the chill and trap your heat. High-lofting, extremely compressible 800-fill-power Traceable Down (European goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) is encased in an ultralight nylon ripstop shell that’s tough for its weight and sheds moisture with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Variegated channel construction creates a thin, thermally efficient silhouette that uses less down to trap your core warmth; the vest slides easily over light layers or under a shell and stuffs into the left handwarmer pocket to create a travel pillow. With two zippered handwarmer pockets and a drawcord hem.
  • Ultralightweight Pertex Quantum® shell and liner fabrics use interlocking Y-shaped nylon fibers to enhance the performance of the DWR (durable water repellent) finish
  • 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked)
  • Variegated channel construction stabilizes goose down; side panels with narrow channels provide shape and reduce bulk
  • Longer-length hem; center-front zipper has interior storm flap and wicking kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Two zippered handwarmer pockets have zipper garages; vest self-stuffs into left-hand pocket as a travel pillow
  • Elastic-bound armholes and hem with single drawcord adjustment seal in warmth
  • Shell and lining: 0.85-oz 15-denier 100% nylon ripstop Pertex Quantum® built with Y-shaped filament technology; with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 800-fill-power Traceable Down (goose down traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked). Fabric is certified as bluesign® approved

bluesign® Approved Fabric

Patagonia has worked with bluesign technologies since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption in our materials supply chain, and to assist us with managing the chemicals, dyes and finishes used in the process. bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, works at each step in the textile supply chain to approve chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, safe for workers, and safe for the end customers.

In 2007, Patagonia became the first brand to officially join the network of bluesign® system partners.

Any fabric you see that’s bluesign® approved offers the highest level of consumer safety by employing methods and materials in their manufacture that conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and the environment.

Traceable Down Insulation

Patagonia Traceable Down provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry. Every down cluster, in every one of our down products, comes exclusively from birds that were never force-fed and never live-plucked. How do we know? We hired an independent third-party expert to trace and verify our down supply chain from farm to jacket–and every step in between. Learn more

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Will suffice for my purpose I own two medium size regular fit down sweaters and love them, BUT when the longer length styles were introduced, the new design size mediums, were snug at the hip when zipped. Off and on, I tried on the new restyled vests and jackets so I knew the fit in advance. The problem for me is the large is too big in the chest. When this came on sale, I bought the Concord purple to layer under my down sweater. I chose the medium for my chest size (it's still a bit roomy for me) and can live with the tight hip fit for the discounted price. My weight is 145. The only way I would pay full price is if the sizing is adjusted. There is a draw cord for a tighter fit at the hip, but I have no need for it. Other than that, I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EVERY OTHER DAY STAPLE! I have the purple one. I LOVE it and wear it every time I go jogging or snowshoeing or do any kind of outdoor winter exercise! (Haven't tried it for skiing yet, but I think it's going to be great.) It's perfect for layering (under and over), breathes well, and is super comfortable. I'm a little worried about washing it, but from the label it looks to be possible...?? Fingers crossed on that one. I also have a nano puff vest which I love for "around town" use. I have an older down sweater vest, which is nice also and maybe even a tad warmer (but it's bulkier, so I use it more casually vs. for exercise). At first I thought this vest might be a bit large for size, but with a few layers under it, it is perfect. So, it really depends on how you want to use it. I am 5'7 and about 120 lbs. I got a small. Big with a t-shirt under it. Perfect with a silk and thermal layer under it. The R1 jacket fits over it or under it really well, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome-sauce I have the hoodie jacket and love it. Ordered the vest to pack with me when I travel to multiple climates in one trip. It packs super small and super light. The warmth is amazing for something this small and light. I wear it as its own layer, under a blazer, or under my Burberry. I also wear it under a shell when I ski. All around one of the cornerstone pieces of my wardrobe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I really wanted to love this vest and was so excited to receive it but I have only worn it once for a short period of time. I really dislike this vest. My sister and I both received Patagonia vests, hers is the W's Down Sweater Vest. We compared and hers actually feels a lot warmer. This one doesn't make me feel any warmer, it feels crunchy and its loud (it's embarrassing). I also don't like the shiny look and it runs big. This was supposed to be used for riding horses and it just doesn't work. I would return it if I could but it was a gift and the tag was taken off. It's a big waste of money. If you're looking for a cute vest to wear, check out the W's Down Sweater Vest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great layering piece I have this vest, the same style jacket, and also hoody. Love them all, use all the time as an extra layer - for ski, to walk the dog, - even to school on top of my scrubs, to keep me warm. Also great for travelling, can stuck them anywhere real quick, very pack-able and lightweight. I wear size S. Size S of this vest is fitted for me, thought the hoody and the jacket are not tight fit at all - rather a bit loose, with room for extra layer underneath. But I like the vest fitted, as it keeps warmth inside.
