Patagonia® Women’s Insulated Jackets and Vests
What you’re doing, where you’re going, and how much you can pack are all considerations when deciding what kind of insulated jacket or vest you need. We believe the best women’s winter coats for extreme cold are durable, versatile and useful for chilly shoulder seasons and just about everything in between. Our women’s insulated jackets and vests cover every kind of cold, so you can keep warm in any condition for any activity.
Types of Insulation
Down is lightweight, packable and ideal for dry cold where you don’t anticipate any precipitation (think frigid days or leaf blower-light snow). If you’re expecting wet snow, spindrift or shifting conditions, synthetic insulation is your best bet. It mimics the light, packable warmth of down but stays warm when wet. And if you know you’ll be working hard in the cold, like breaking trail, ridge running or attempting fast-and-light alpine objectives, active insulation uses warm-when-wet synthetic insulation while boosting breathability to keep you comfortable while you’re charging.
How to Choose a Jacket or Vest
Both down and synthetic insulation make great warm, lightweight women’s snow jackets. If you want to be as warm as possible and weight isn’t an issue, our insulated parkas and coats are our warmest winter coats for women. If you’re looking for something to wear under your ski or snowboard jacket, we recommend women’s insulated jackets made with synthetic insulation if you’re mostly going downhill and an active insulation jacket or vest if you’re going backcountry or cross country. And don’t forget a high-quality baselayer for moisture-wicking performance and comfort.
Buy Less, Demand More
We’re in business to save our home planet. That means building gear with lower-impact and high-performing materials that you can trust for a lifetime or longer.
Responsible Down Standard Certified: The virgin down in our outerwear is certified to the Responsible Down Standard to bolster demand for better animal welfare practices in the down and feather supply chain.
Recycled Fabrics: Like 98% percent of our products, our women’s insulated jackets and vests use recycled polyester and nylon fabrics and insulation, like NetPlus® and PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco 100% postconsumer recycled polyester with P.U.R.E.™ (Produced Using Reduced Emissions) technology to eliminate the need for virgin materials.
PFC-Free DWR: Many of our women’s insulated jackets and vests use a PFC-free durable water repellent coating that does not contain perfluorinated “forever” chemicals.
Fair Trade Certified™ Factories: All our women’s insulated jackets are made in Fair Trade Certified™ factories, which means the people who made the garments earned a premium for their labor.
